Kuzco broadens its offerings with its second architectural lighting acquisition in 12 months
Kuzco Lighting has announced the acquisition of Insight Lighting, a New Mexico-based manufacturer specializing in high-performance indoor and outdoor architectural lighting. This follows Kuzco’s 2024 acquisition of Auroralight, a California company known for its durable, marine-grade landscape lighting.
Both acquisitions reflect Kuzco’s strategic focus on expanding its architectural lighting portfolio. Merrimack Group, which advised Auroralight on its acquisition by Kuzco, also served as the M&A advisor to Insight Lighting in this transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For nearly 30 years, Insight Lighting has established itself as a well known brand in architectural lighting, offering an array of advanced lighting solutions for commercial projects. Insight’s portfolio includes over 20 product families, catering to complex lighting applications such as coves, walls, and facades. High-profile installations include the Orlando International Airport and Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome.
“Insight Lighting’s innovative approach aligns seamlessly with our mission,” said Nathan Yang, President of Kuzco Lighting. The acquisition is seen as a strategic step in bolstering Kuzco’s U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities while maintaining Insight’s legacy as a family-owned brand.
Shared Representation Enhances Market Integration
Kuzco and Insight Lighting share representation through several agencies in key markets, including
- LaFace & McGovern in Pittsburgh
- Architectural Lighting Alliance in Dallas
- Salex in Toronto
- Illuminate in Boston
- Arizona Lighting Sales in Phoenix
Kuzco stated that it plans to maintain Insight Lighting’s current sales representation, so certain overlapping territories like those above can facilitate a smoother integration of the two brands and bolster their presence.
The acquisition further solidifies Kuzco’s role as a key player in both residential and architectural lighting. By combining Kuzco’s contemporary LED designs with Insight’s custom optic and color-changing platforms, the partnership can potentially cross-pollenate aesthetic and performance best practices.
Kuzco’s acquisition of Insight Lighting reflects a broader strategy to diversify its portfolio and invest in U.S. manufacturing. This move builds on Kuzco’s history of strategic growth, including its previous acquisition of Auroralight, and positions the brand for continued growth in the competitive lighting market.
