Auroralight joins Kuzco, broadening their architectural lighting portfolio

Kuzco Group, a British Columbia-based manufacturer of contemporary indoor and outdoor lighting products, has announced its acquisition of Auroralight, a specialty manufacturer of commercial-grade outdoor lighting. This strategic alignment aims to enhance Kuzco Group's presence in the landscape lighting sector.

Auroralight, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, has established a reputation since 1996 for high-quality, marine-grade landscape lighting fixtures. Known for its durability, Auroralight's products are crafted from solid brass and copper, ensuring resilience in harsh environments. The company emphasizes its commitment to craftsmanship, offering a lifetime warranty and prioritizing sustainability through the use of quality materials and localized manufacturing processes. John Hradnansky will continue as Auroralight's CEO, with Steve Wood as President.

Synergy and Expansion

Kuzco Group's acquisition is more than just an expansion of its product range; it represents a synergy of two brands known for their unique design aesthetics. Both Kuzco Lighting and Auroralight have a history of catering to both commercial projects and high-end residential projects. Their reliance on C&I specification channels through architects and lighting designers, as well as showroom channels, also demonstrates an alignment of go-to-market strategies.

The integration of Auroralight into Kuzco Group’s portfolio, which includes Kuzco, Alora, and Alora Mood, introduces new opportunities in product categories like smart fans, mirrors, and track systems. Nathan Yang, President of Kuzco Lighting, expressed his excitement about incorporating Auroralight's quality products into their brand portfolio, “We are beyond excited to welcome Auroralight and their beautiful, quality product to our brand portfolio.”

Shared Market Presence

Both Kuzco Lighting and Auroralight share several common lighting agents in the United States, including:

  • Lightspec, Upstate New York
  • Gasser Bush, Detroit, Michigan
  • Engineered Lighting Sales, Kentucky
  • Enterprise Lighting & Control, Wisconsin
  • LESCO, Houston, Texas
  • Spectrum Lighting, San Antonio and Austin, Texas
  • Solus, Portland, Oregon

This shared market presence may help streamline integration and market expansion for the merged entity.

Paul Sidhu, Director of Marketing for Kuzco Group, also expressed enthusiasm and hinted at operational advantages of the acquisition, “The acquisition of Auroralight into our brand portfolio is a huge step forward when it comes to our design and manufacturing capabilities.”

With Lightovation beginning at the Dallas Market Center this week, Kuzco has timed its announcement with the market opening and has already integrated Auroralight products into its permanent showroom at the Dallas Market Center.
