Minka Lighting Issues Unusually Narrow Recall On Pendants

Company offers full refunds on $3,000 - $5,000 fixtures citing detachment risk

Minka Lighting Group is recalling its Bardon Series pendant fixtures following one reported incident and zero injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the notice on May 14, 2026, covering three models: the 8-Light Pendant (N1847-776), the 12-Light Pendant (N1848-776), and the 5-Light Island (N1849-776). All three carry a polished brass finish with slatted frosted glass shades and retail between $3,000 and $5,000.

Two things make this recall notice stand out. The total unit count is about 170, a narrow commercial footprint by any recall standard. And the incident section of the CPSC filing uses the singular: one fixture, one detachment, no injuries. That combination, a small-volume product line and a single reported event, is unusual in formal safety actions. Minka and the CPSC concluded it was enough to act.

The Hazard

The fixture frame can detach from its pendant downrod, posing a risk of serious injury or death. At up to 49 pounds apiece, the stakes of that failure are not abstract. The 8-Light Pendant is 28 inches wide and uses 12 B10 candelabra-base lamps. The 12-Light Pendant spans 36 inches across.

The elliptical 5-Light Island runs 48 inches long by 20 inches wide and takes five Edison-base lamps. The 8-Light and 12-Light models each hang from a single downrod; the Island uses two. A fixture of that mass arriving from ceiling height is a serious event, which is why the CPSC advises consumers to stay clear of the area directly beneath any installed unit.

One model in the Bardon family is explicitly excluded. The 4-Light Semi Flush (N1844-776) has no downrod and is not affected by this recall.
