Kichler Sconces Recalled Over Electric Shock Risk
New private equity owner Kingswood inherits unexpected safety concerns
Kichler Lighting, a well-established brand in the residential lighting market, is recalling approximately 2,760 Ellerbeck Wall Sconces due to a potential electric shock hazard. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on February 27, 2025, also affects 215 units sold in Canada.
According to the CPSC, the electrical wires of the Ellerbeck sconces can become damaged at the adjustable joints, increasing the risk of electric shock. The affected fixtures, sold in black, natural brass, polished nickel, and classic pewter finishes, were available at lighting showrooms nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Lowes.com between June 2023 and December 2024. Consumers paid between $165 and $240 per unit.
While no injuries or incidents have been reported to date, Kichler urges customers who installed these fixtures as plug-in units without an electrical box to immediately unplug them and discontinue use. Affected consumers can request a free replacement sconce by submitting a product question form on Kichler’s website, along with photographic proof of destruction.
Recall Details and Consumer Actions
This recall involves Ellerbeck Wall Sconces with articulating jointed arms that can be mounted as plug-in fixtures or hardwired to an electrical box. Only those installed as plug-in fixtures without an electrical box are included in this recall. The model numbers affected are 43115BK, 43115NBR, 43115PN, and 43115CLP. The model number and production date, printed on the product packaging and a sticker inside the wall plate, indicate whether a unit falls under the recall. Units produced on or after June 16, 2023, are impacted.
Consumers should inspect their fixtures and visit Kichler’s website for verification. If their product is subject to the recall, they should immediately unplug it, follow Kichler’s instructions for disposal, and request a replacement.
Kichler’s Recent Change in Ownership
