Lutron Recalls LED Power Interfaces
Voluntary recall of nearly 2,000 units follows risk of electric shock in rare conditions
Lutron Electronics Co. Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1,944 hard-wired power interfaces used with LED tape lights due to a potential shock hazard. The recall, announced June 5, 2025, affects the LU-PH3-B model, a component included in Lumaris RGB+ tunable white LED tape light starter kits for both RadioRA 3 and HomeWorks systems.
The company initiated the recall following identification of a potential failure mode during significant power surges, such as those caused by lightning strikes. Under those conditions, the power interface may fail, creating a risk of electric shock if a user comes into contact with the connected LED tape lights.
According to the official recall notice, Lutron has not received any reports of injuries or incidents related to the product. The recall is being handled as a proactive measure to mitigate risk.
Impacted Products and Distribution
The recalled interfaces are identified by model number LU-PH3-B and were sold individually or as part of starter kits labeled RRL-MTK-RT-IN for RadioRA 3 systems and HWL-MTK-RT-IN for HomeWorks systems. These products were distributed nationwide through AV dealers and electrical distributors between September 2024 and April 2025. The standalone interface retailed for approximately $300, while complete kits sold for between $1,250 and $1,400.
Each affected interface is a 96-watt, hard-wired unit with extended flying leads, designed to power up to 32.8 feet of tunable white and RGB LED tape lighting, controlled by up to three wireless controllers.
