2025 Lighting Calendar Features 22 Events and Counting

Lighting People from all sectors will gather to explore innovations and collaborate on new ideas
As the smell of pumpkin spice fills the late summer air and retailers prepare way-too-early displays of tinsel and ornaments, some lighting people are already looking beyond 2024 and into the new year.
While many of us are rightly focused on finishing the last four months of 2024 strong, Inside Lighting is momentarily shifting its attention to the growing list of 2025 lighting events. With 22 events already on the calendar — and more announcements to come — professionals from every part of the lighting industry, including design, distribution, installation and manufacturing, can look forward to a year filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and innovate.
With 13 major events still scheduled in what remains of 2024, lighting people have numerous opportunities to connect, learn, and explore the latest industry trends. From regional trade shows to larger-scale conferences, the calendar remains full, reflecting the vibrancy and dynamism of the industry.
Key Highlights of the 2025 Calendar
Inside Lighting’s 2025 preview features a variety of events catering to different segments of the lighting industry. Here are some key highlights:
- Major Trade Shows and Conferences: The 2025 calendar includes some larger-scale events that will attract thousands of lighting people. LightFair, taking place in May, remains one of the industry’s largest and most comprehensive trade shows, where manufacturers, designers, and innovators come together to explore the future of lighting technology. Likewise, LEDucation continues to provide valuable insights into the latest LED innovations and design strategies, serving as a crucial event for lighting professionals eager to stay ahead of the curve.
- Lumen Gala in New York City: One of the standout events of the year is the IES New York Section’s annual Lumen Gala, which celebrates outstanding achievements in lighting design. Traditionally held on a Thursday evening in June, the 2025 edition will take place on Wednesday, June 18. However, the change in date shouldn't dampen spirits. With the event falling on the eve of Juneteenth, a federal holiday, attendees can enjoy the festivities and likely take advantage of no early morning alarm sounding on following day.
- IES Section Shows Across the U.S.: While not all local IES section trade shows make the national spotlight, a few key events will shine in 2025. The IES Los Angeles Product Fair kicks off the year in February, offering West Coast lighting people a chance to preview cutting-edge products. Meanwhile, the IES Detroit Section Product Show will take place in early March, preceding two of the year’s largest lighting industry gatherings: LEDucation in late March and LightFair in May. Finally, Light! Design Expo will return to San Francisco in June, once again setting up shop at the iconic Embarcadero.

The current schedule already provides ample opportunities for networking, education, and collaboration, but further announcements from lighting organizations and industry leaders are anticipated in the coming months.
