Ex-Cooper Lighting Exec Joins Board of Current™

Ken Walma, CEO of Big Ass Fans, to join board on June 1

 

Current™, the lighting and controls company with over $1 billion in revenues, recently made headlines by appointing Steve Harris as the new CEO, with his term beginning on May 30th. This week, Current™ has announced that Ken Walma is set to join the company’s Board of Directors, effective from June 1st. Walma currently serves as the President and CEO of Big Ass Fans, the world's largest manufacturer of high-volume, low-speed fans.

Walma brings a wealth of lighting experience to the Current™ board, having previously led indoor, outdoor, and consumer business segments at Cooper Lighting Solutions. A year ago, he transitioned to Big Ass Fans, concluding a successful fifteen-year leadership stint at Cooper Lighting.

According to a statement released by Current™, Walma is known for unifying teams, transforming companies, and driving commercial growth. His leadership has helped Big Ass Fans secure the top spot among medium-sized companies in the United States, according to Fortune Magazine. As Current™ remains dedicated to prioritizing customer needs, Walma's extensive background, knowledge, insights, and ideas will be a vital asset in achieving top-notch customer service.

Certain members of the Current™ leadership team also share a professional history with Walma at Cooper. Three executives of Current™ were former colleagues of Walma at Cooper's Peachtree City, Georgia office:

  • Tom Benton, Vice President and General Manager, Luminaires

  • Chip Taylor, Chief Commercial Officer

  • Jason Sherrill, VP & GM, Controls and Software
