12 North American projects and 10 projects from Asia receive recognition

The 41st annual International Lighting Design Awards, hosted by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), honored 28 lighting design projects at an in-person event for the first time since 2019. Held in San Diego, California, the awards banquet brought together more than 250 lighting professionals to celebrate the achievements of their peers. The event recognized 28 exemplary projects from 10 countries for their outstanding contributions to the field of architectural lighting design.

The event’s highest honor, the IALD Radiance Award for Excellence in Lighting Design, was awarded to “Lightfall,” a project in New York by Loisos + Ubbelohde and Lumen Architecture. This accolade, given to the project with the highest score, highlights the project’s innovative approach and excellence in both aesthetic and technical lighting design. Firm principals George Loisos and Susan Ubbelohde accepted the award on behalf of their teams, joining the IALD Awards Co-Chairs Yah Li Toh and Uno Lai, and IALD President Andrea Hartranft on stage.
