After launches in several Asian countries in recent years, brand of economical lights embarks on UK market

Signify, the worldwide leader in lighting, continues to expand its EcoLink brand across global markets. The latest entrant is the United Kingdom, following previous launches in numerous Asian markets. EcoLink offers a variety of economical lighting solutions, including downlights, spotlights, surface lights, strips, rope lights, LEDs, and ceiling fans. This strategic rollout aims to provide competitively priced LED luminaires tailored to the needs of local markets.

In 2021, Signify introduced EcoLink in India, marking its entry into the Indian light and fan market under the EcoLink brand. The following year, Malaysia welcomed the EcoLink range, showcasing a variety of lighting solutions. In August 2022, Bangladesh saw the launch of EcoLink fans and lighting, further expanding the brand's footprint in Asia. Early in 2024, Egypt joined the list of markets embracing EcoLink, continuing Signify's global strategy.

UK Market Launch

On Monday, through a press release published on its website, Signify announced the launch of its EcoLink brand in Signify's United Kingdom region, which includes England, Scotland, and Wales, and possibly Ireland. Although the press release was subsequently removed within hours, the information provided detailed the introduction of a comprehensive new over-the-counter trade range of LED luminaires specifically designed for the UK market. The press release is expected to be republished on Wednesday, July 10, providing two extra days to ensure all distributors have stock on hand at the time of the announcement.

With product requirements varying from country to country — including operating voltages and currents, common ceiling dimensions, local building and energy codes, and safety regulations — the task of bringing lighting products to market in various regions can be tedious, time-consuming, expensive, and nuanced.

The new EcoLink UK range includes:

LED Panels: Offering four solution possibilities – on/off, on/off + 3hr manual emergency, DALI, and DALI + 3hr manual emergency.

IP65 Rated LED Flood Lights: Equipped with IP65 motion sensors.

LED Battens: Available with options for plug-in self-test emergency lighting packs or manual test emergency packs.

Standalone Emergency Lighting: Comprising IP65 bulkheads, twin spots, recessed, and surface-mounted spots.

Emergency Exit Signs: For wall and ceiling mounting, all featuring high-quality lithium ferro phosphate batteries.

Non-Corrosive LED Fittings: With manual test emergency packs or plug-in self-test emergency lighting packs.

Future Product Additions: The second phase of the EcoLink launch is scheduled for September and October, introducing:

  • LED Bulkheads: Available in switchable correlated color temperature (CCT) and switchable lumen output.
  • LED Highbays
  • LED Fire-Rated Downlights: Available with switchable CCT.

EcoLink LED lighting products are available both in-store and online from distributors. Additionally, a 'Distributor Log-in' area is available for wholesalers. For projects requiring lighting design, the LumXpert app provides tailored lighting designs, quotes, and real-time stock availability, alongside extended payment terms for installers.

The expansion of EcoLink into the UK market marks a significant step in Signify's global strategy. A Signify spokesperson informed Inside Lighting that the company has no current plans to launch EcoLink in North America.
