Trevor Palmer, the outgoing President of ABL, will be leaving Acuity Brands after a tenure marked by significant transformation within the company including the company eclipsing the $4 billion revenue mark in 2022. Palmer ascended to the President role in March 2021 after serving as Senior Vice President of Acuity Brands' Digital Lighting Networks business. He rose through the ranks following Acuity's acquisition of Distech Controls, which brought Palmer to the organization.

“Trevor Palmer, the current President of the ABL business, has made many positive contributions to the business, leading ABL through several years of transformation that positions us for future success. He will be leaving the Company after a successful tenure” said Neil Ashe, Chairman, President, and CEO of Acuity Brands, Inc. “We thank Trevor for his many contributions and look forward to the future with confidence.”

Sankpal joined Acuity Brands in April 2022, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his previous leadership roles with industrial technology companies. "Since joining Acuity two years ago, Sach has been a positive influence on our performance and our culture," said Ashe.

Prior to Acuity, Sankpal was the President of Product & Solutions at Resideo, Inc., where he played a critical role in the company’s turnaround efforts. His tenure at Trimble, Inc. as Senior Vice President involved executing strategic acquisitions and delivering innovative IoT solutions. Sankpal also led Honeywell Global Safety Products through a recovery phase, focusing on operational excellence and R&D transformation.

Sankpal’s division, Acuity Brands Lighting and Lighting Controls, is one of two divisions of Acuity Brands Inc. and comprises 93% of the company's total revenues. The other division, Intelligent Spaces Group, represents the remaining 7% of sales and is led by Peter Han, President of ISG.

As Acuity Brands approaches the end of its fiscal year on August 31, Sankpal will have one month to acclimate to the President role before hitting the reset button with the start of the full fiscal year 2025 on September 1. Despite a slight dip in sales post the $4 billion mark achieved in FY 2022, Acuity Brands has maintained profit margins that satisfy Wall Street stakeholders. The company’s single-digit revenue decline has proven more resilient compared to its rivals experiencing higher percentage declines.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly cited Acuity Brands' $4 billion fiscal year as 2023. It was 2022. We regret the mistake.
