FSG Acquires New York Specialty Distributor
FSG expands national lighting services with LMI acquisition
Facility Solutions Group, Inc. (FSG) has acquired Lighting Management, Inc. (LMI), a lighting distributor based in New York that was founded in 1977. With this acquisition, FSG aims to strengthen its lighting services across the nation, given LMI's involvement in projects throughout the U.S. LMI becomes FSG's third location in the New York metro area, with existing locations already in Manhattan and Monmouth County, New Jersey.
Established in Valley Cottage, New York – 30 miles outside of New York City – LMI has notably provided lighting and control products, as well as specification and design services to a diverse clientele, including those in the retail, commercial, and hospitality sectors. LMI offers value-added lighting expertise, project management and design services to their customer-partners.
According to the LMI website, the company offers warehousing and long-term maintenance in addition to design services. They claim to have "on-staff architects, interior designers, & estimators." Multiple sources in New York have informed us that there appears to be a close working relationship between LMI and award-winning New York architectural lighting design firm, Kugler Ning Lighting. In 2020, LMI reported having 36 employees.
Leon Mowadia, Chief Operating Officer of Distribution for FSG, commented on the acquisition, stating, "LMI's comprehensive expertise in lighting, from design and value-engineering to controls, will complement FSG's current offerings. The seasoned team of lighting professionals from LMI will indeed be a valuable addition as we pursue our goal of expanding our lighting business at a national scale."
John Sapanaro, President of LMI, reflected on LMI's journey and its alignment with FSG. "From our inception, LMI has always aimed to stand out in the lighting industry. Joining forces with FSG, a respected name in the field, will undeniably elevate our capabilities and service delivery," he said.
Echoing the sentiment of growth and synergy was Luke Graham, who is the Vice President of the new LMI branch. "This strategic move marks a significant milestone in our company's continued growth and reaffirms our commitment to providing innovative lighting solutions to our valued customers. " Graham said.
