Dark Skies Take Center Stage at TEDx Event

IDA Director offers practical suggestions for dark sky solutions

Dark-sky advocate and photographer, Bettymaya Foott works for the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) as director of engagement. Preserving dark skies is her life goal, and she finds that astro-landscape photography is the most poignant way to express a love for the night and to educate about the impacts of light pollution.

In this TEDx talk recently delivered in Kansas City, Missouri, Foott shows how disappearing darkness and starlight are causing or worsening many of our other problems, and offers practical suggestions for how each of us can contribute to solutions. Foott challenges us to think of light pollution as a serious environmental concern and not simply as an aesthetic issue.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
