In-person lighting-related events continue to return in 2022 and 2023

After pandemic-induced hibernation and uncertainty, the lighting industry events are returning and relaunching with new features, programs and offerings designed to attract live attendees while also – in some cases – giving an opportunity for lighting people to attend portions virtually.

Two new events, LightSPEC West and LightSPEC Midwest were scheduled to have inaugural events in Fall 2022, but as the LightSPEC Midwest event drew closer and the exhibitor list remained relatively short, show organizers canceled the Chicago event. LightSPEC West cites over 100+ exhibitors and appears to be a full go. The events are owned by Endeavor Business Media who, in 2021, purchased the assets of the now-defunct LightShow West and LED Specifier Summit.

ArchLIGHT Summit had its first-ever event in September 2021, and is planning its second iteration at the Dallas Market Center in September. The annual conference of National Association of Innovative Lighting Distributors (NAILD) will occur in Dallas the day before ArchLIGHT Summit.

Frankfurt, Germany’s Light + Building is the world’s largest lighting trade show and in October will be hosting its first event since 2018. Event organizers postponed the March 2022 edition by several months and are billing it as the Autumn Edition. We look forward to learning how the North American lighting communities show up for double-whammy of Light + Building and Octoberfest in Germany.

In New York City, two of North America’s most popular lighting events will take place just 10 ½ weeks apart in 2023. LEDucation will occur March 6-7 and LightFair is set for May 21-25. Some electrical distributors may feel conflicted about attending LightFair as the NAED National Meeting occurs the same exact days.

Strategies in Light is not planning a 2022 event. No official word on whether it will return in 2023.
