GE Lighting Names New President
Industry veteran, Kathy Sterio, will lead GE Lighting, a Savant company
General Electric veteran, Kathy Sterio, was Chief Marketing Officer when the GE Lighting business was acquired by Savant Systems in 2020. With Bill Lacey, the previous President and CEO, recently moving to an executive role with Amazon.com, Kathy takes over as the leader of this important lighting brand. CLEVELAND, OH – Kathy Sterio has been named President of GE Lighting, a Savant company. In her new role she will reshape the company to refocus on its long-term portfolio, consumer demand and reducing organizational complexities. She’ll also drive growth and innovation in the LED and smart home categories, while continuing to advance key business strategies.
“Kathy is the right person to lead our retail lighting and smart home company. She is a highly respected and forward-thinking leader that inspires trust and confidence in her colleagues, employees and customers,” said Bob Madonna, CEO of Savant Systems, Inc. “She’ll use her vast industry knowledge and experience to navigate the company in the right direction as market demands continue to evolve and change quickly.”
Kathy is an accomplished business leader with more than 29 years of lighting and smart home industry experience. She previously served as the chief marketing officer for GE Lighting (when part of General Electric) and continued to serve in that capacity after it was acquired by Savant Systems, Inc.
Prior to that, Kathy was the general manager of product management and marketing for GE Lighting responsible for new product development and product platform strategy. She also served as the chief marketing officer for GE Lighting and Current, powered by GE, where she led global B2B marketing efforts. She has served in multiple leadership roles across the business in marketing, sales, sourcing and quality.
Kathy is a certified Six Sigma Master Blackbelt and a recipient of the WELDing the Way Leadership Award (Women for Economic & Leadership), Diversity MBA Award, as well as several GE leadership awards during her tenure at the company.
A native of Syracuse, New York, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Dayton and holds an MBA from John Carroll University.
