Manning Lighting Purchases Assets of Borden Lighting
Borden Lighting winds down its operations as Manning Lighting acquires about one-third of Borden’s product line.
Randy Borden got involved in Shaper Lighting in 1983. He became the CEO of Shaper and grew the brand to $11 million in revenue. In November 2000, Borden sold the decorative architectural lighting brand to Cooper Lighting parent, Cooper Industries, for $8 million.
As we often see with entrepreneurs, Borden hit the reset button and launched another California-based, independent, decorative, architectural fixture brand, Borden Lighting. As Borden is now in his 70’s the brand has pulled back from agent representation recently and is now winding down operations.
Borden Lighting has relocated twice in the last two years amidst escalating costs for industrial warehouse space in Alameda County fueled by heightened demand for cannabis production in California.
Enter Manning Lighting
Manning has long been a family-owned lighting manufacturer based in Sheboygan, WI. Their decorative product line has some overlap with the Borden Lighting product line. Manning has recently and opportunistically acquired about 40 of Borden Lighting's most popular products and are now marketing them under the Manning Lighting brand. The Borden series products are available through Manning Lighting representatives in North America.
