Luminii Acquires Filix Lighting as Expansion Continues

headline news ---1 - 2026-07-08T100033.718.jpeg

The seventh acquisition extends Luminii into underwater lighting and new international markets.

Filix Lighting builds pool lights and underwater fixtures in a small Croatian town called Pazin. Luminii is a Niles, Illinois architectural lighting company that just made it acquisition number seven. Nobody at Luminii seems interested in buying a company that looks like the last one.

Filix, in business more than two decades, has built its name on urban, exterior, and underwater lighting for architects and cities. Luminii's release framed the acquisition around design continuity, the idea that a building's lighting vision shouldn't stop at the property line. That's the kind of language company statements always use. What the deal actually does is give Luminii an entry into underwater and marine lighting it did not previously have, along with Filix's presence in European and Middle Eastern markets.

Both companies say the Filix brand, team, and customer relationships will stay intact. Filix's message to its agents promised continued access to the same products, people, and support, plus expanded resources and a broader platform. Those assurances are standard in any acquisition announcement, and worth remembering if and when the next round of integration decisions gets made.

Filix is Luminii's seventh known acquisition since 2019, and the pattern by now is unmistakable. Luminii buys specialists: a directional-lighting shop in Calgary, a patented linear-LED manufacturer in Chicago, a pair of British companies that gave it a remote-control lighting category from scratch, a low-profile downlight maker out of a Silicon Valley optics spinout, a maker of vandal-resistant sconces for hospitals. Each deal filled a gap the last one didn't touch. Filix fills the underwater and international gap.

One of those prior deals, the Alva Lighting acquisition, didn't come with a press release at all. Inside Lighting reported it in March after noticing Alva quietly appear as a Luminii brand, weeks after the deal reportedly closed. Luminii confirmed it only after the fact, in a blog post. The Filix deal, by contrast, came with the full marketing rollout: an article, a message to agents, an executive quote. Whether that reflects the size of the deal, the visibility of the brand, or simply which acquisitions Luminii has decided are worth explaining is not something the company has said.

What is clear is that Luminii is not slowing down. Seven deals in seven years is roughly one acquisition a year, sometimes two. For agents and specifiers on either side of these deals, the question is no longer whether Luminii will make another move. It's which niche gets absorbed next, and how much notice anyone gets before it happens.
