Tala North America has initiated a recall of approximately 5,300 battery-powered Muse rechargable table lamps after discovering a risk of overheating that could lead to fire. The recall, issued on November 7, 2024, is being conducted under the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Fast Track Recall program.

The potential hazard stems from an electronic malfunction in the lamp’s lithium battery that may cause overheating, potentially resulting in fire. The recall affects Muse lamps produced in various colors, including brass, green, white, blue, red, black, and pink. Each lamp measures approximately 13 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide.

Incident Prompts Safety Recall

The recall follows a reported incident where a lamp’s battery overheated, igniting a fire that caused damage to nearby furniture. Although no injuries were reported, the potential risk to consumer safety prompted Tala North America to take preventive action.

Tala distributed these lamps through North American online retailers, including Lumens.com, Lightology, West Elm, One Kings Lane, Lulu & Georgia, and Anthropologie, with sales spanning from September 2021 through July 2024. Consumers purchased the lamps online, typically priced between $275 and $495.

Replacement Program Details

To mitigate the risk, Tala urges consumers to discontinue use of all affected lamps immediately. Consumers can contact Tala North America for a free replacement bulb by completing a replacement request form on the company’s website. The form requires a photo of the product and a statement indicating the quantity of recalled bulbs. Replacement bulbs will be mailed directly to customers at no additional cost.

Consumers seeking more information can reach Tala’s customer service via email at productquality@tala.co.uk or by calling 800-408-2226 between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
