Armed with Light Meters, Residents Object to Sports Complex

Light trespass in a nearby neighborhood exceeds local ordinance by over 500%

HUNTERSVILLE, NC – The Fox 46 Queen City News I-Team has launched a thorough investigation into light trespass that is allegedly emitting from a Charlotte area sports complex and disrupting a local neighborhood.

Residents who live near Spartan Park in Huntersville, North Carolina have reportedly been fighting town government saying they're concerned that the Town of Huntersville "has bulldozed their quiet, rural neighborhood." Local resident Crystal Silva invested in a Klein Tools ET130 digital light meter to demonstrate that light trespass in a nearby residential neighborhood exceeds the local ordinance limit by over 500%.

Sydney Heiberger, Northeast Bureau Chief for Fox 46 Queen City News, has more details in the report above that aired on March 28.
