Reggiani Lighting USA Goes Radio Silent

Agents report company is closing its doors. Prepaid customer orders and agent commissions in limbo.

In a move that is frustrating some lighting industry stakeholders, Reggiani Lighting USA is reportedly shutting down US operations without providing an announcement or a phase-out plan to its agent partners or customers.

For three consecutive days, we’ve sent emails to John Savoretti, President of Reggiani Lighting USA. No reply.

On Tuesday, we called Reggiani Lighting USA National Sales Manager, Jason Mehmedovic, he politely declined to answer our questions about the status of Reggiani. After we placed that call, we heard reports that numerous Reggiani USA employees were let go on Friday, January 28, including Mehmedovic. Mehmedovic’s LinkedIn profile shows an end date of his Reggiani employment of January 2022.

On Wednesday morning, we called the main business line for Reggiani Lighting USA. The person who answered the phone, Rebecca, informed us that she was the receptionist and an employee of Reggiani Lighting USA. She wasn’t able to connect us to anyone, but said that she would deliver our message to Mala Lawrence, Reggiani USA’s Chief Financial Officer. We have not received a return phone call from Ms. Lawrence.

Multiple agents report being told by outgoing Reggiani Lighting USA employees that the company is shutting down its US operations. Some claim to be owed large sums of commissions and others feel that they or their customers are in the process of getting “stiffed” on prepaid orders that will never be fulfilled. We’ve heard reports of specifiers scrambling to make substitutions on the expectation that Reggiani USA won’t fulfill the eventual order.

Agents report that Reggiani Lighting USA has been slow to pay commissions during the past year, which obviously is irksome. But the most prevalent feedback we heard was agent frustration from being “in the dark” with no communication and no direction from Reggiani Lighting USA. Some indicate that this feels like Reggiani is turning off the lights, shutting the door and disappearing – leaving agents and customers to clean up the mess, while potentially suffering financial loss due to what might be a Reggiani Lighting USA disappearing act.

Reggiani Lighting USA is a New Jersey corporation. Reggiani Lighting’s global headquarters is in Italy.
