GE Current Completes Hubbell Lighting Acquisition

Two important names in lighting combine into one company

In October, GE Current, a Daintree company, announced that it would be acquiring Hubbell’s C&I lighting business.

The companies have closed on the transaction now making Hubbell’s C&I lighting business part of Current.

The announcement from Current did not cite the brand name “Hubbell Lighting” instead mentioning “Hubbell’s C&I lighting business” multiple times.

The combined new business will be branded as Current.

Current is a portfolio company of private equity firm American Industrial Partners

Purchase price was previously announced to be $350 million.

Hubbell Lighting's 2020 revenues were reportedly $515 million.

Progress Lighting is not part of the transaction.

CLEVELAND, February 1, 2022 — GE Current, a Daintree company, has completed the acquisition of Hubbell^® Incorporated’s commercial and industrial (C&I) lighting business, creating a premier end-to-end lighting solutions business. The combined new business will be branded as Current.

Hubbell’s C&I lighting business is a leading provider of professional lighting, lighting controls and connected lighting that offers a comprehensive range of indoor and outdoor lighting products for industrial, commercial and institutional applications. Brands that are part of the acquisition include Architectural Area Lighting, Beacon, LiteControl, Kim Lighting, Columbia Lighting, Prescolite, Dual-Lite, Compass, Kurt Versen, Hubbell Outdoor Lighting, Hubbell Controls Solutions and Whiteway.

The combined business now offers an extensive product portfolio of lamps, fixtures and controls, uniquely tailored to C&I, Signage, Roadway, Horticulture and Transportation markets. The acquisition also expands Current’s base of distribution partnerships and specific agent networks for the defined businesses and brands.
