Integrated Lighting Campaign Offers Unique Opportunities for Lighting-Focused Organizations

The ILC is a program designed to help facility owners and managers take advantage of savings opportunities and benefits of advanced lighting sensors and controls and of integrating lighting systems with other building or business systems in their facilities. Every year we recognize exemplary performance of participants who demonstrated novel use of lighting controls, sensors, and system integration (like HVAC and plug loads).

The Department of Energy introduced the ILC in 2020 to encourage building owners, operators, and facility managers to adopt novel sensors and controls that allow lighting to interact with other building systems to save energy, lower costs, and create comfortable spaces for occupants.

JOIN THE INTEGRATED LIGHTING CAMPAIGN

The ILC is designed to assist facility owners, operators, and managers take advantage of savings opportunities and benefits of integrating lighting systems with other building and business systems in their facilities. By joining, participants and supporters gain unique access to the technical expertise of the U.S. Department of Energy and its network of national laboratories.

PARTICIPANTS

Organizations, including building owners, operators, and managers who join the ILC as participants will be able to access resources and technical assistance to aid them with identifying innovative strategies to integrate their lighting with other building systems. They will also have the opportunity to gain recognition for exemplary projects utilizing integrated lighting systems.

SUPPORTERS

Supporting partners include utilities, manufacturers, energy efficiency organizations, lighting designers, and ESCOs. These organizations help to accelerate the use of advanced lighting controls and integration of lighting with other building systems through sharing information about the ILC and the high-efficiency innovative interior lighting solutions, products, and services they offer. They also encourage their members or customers to join the ILC.

UPCOMING WEBINARS

Attend our upcoming informational webinars for potential Supporters (this Thursday, Feb 16) and Participants (next Thursday, Feb 23). This Thursday’s webinar is specifically for utilities, energy efficiency organizations, community-based organization, lighting manufacturers, energy service companies, and nonprofits involved in the procurement, installation, and financing of lighting technologies. In this webinar, campaign lead Axel Pearson, will discuss:

  3. Campaign highlights, resources, and success stories

  4. How to submit a successful Recognition application (deadline is March 30)

  5. Plus a guest presentation by ILC Organizer, DesignLights Consortium

  6. We’ll include some time at the end of the webinar for a Q&A session with the ILC team.

ILC Exemplary Performance Recognition

Last month, the ILC launched its annual recognition program with new recognition categories that highlight the potential of novel lighting technologies to contribute to energy equity, sustainability, and indoor air quality in commercial and public buildings. There are 10 recognition categories in total. Every year, the ILC revisits the recognition categories to capture emerging industry priorities and new technology trends. The deadline to submit projects for recognition is March 31, 2023.

2023 Recognition Cycle

The Integrated Lighting Campaign (ILC) is a recognition and guidance program designed to help facility owners, operators, and managers save energy and money in their facilities. The ILC documents the adoption of integrated lighting systems, advanced sensors in lighting, and recognizes exemplary projects.

This is intended for the Recognition process for:

  • ILC Participants (organizations including building owners, operators, and managers) to submit projects that they would like to have considered for recognition.
  • ILC Supporters (utilities, energy efficiency organizations, lighting designers, and ESCOs) to submit for recognition for their efforts to support and implement the use of advanced technologies that facilitate integration in buildings.

The Campaign seeks to highlight applications that have a positive impact on energy justice, diversity, equity, and/or inclusion. Partners that support the unique needs of under-served communities through their deployment, installation, or supporting activities should provide relevant information in the narratives.
