Now North America's largest annual lighting industry event, LEDucation delights attendees and exhibitors

LEDucation 2023 is lit. The event has delighted the thousands attendees and exhibitors who have converged upon the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan for what is now North America’s largest annual lighting industry event.

As the show grows each year it’s enlightening to hear feedback from first-time attendees, who often arrive with certain expectations about a “hotel ballroom event” and are then blown away by the exhibits, seminars and overall vibe of LEDucation. LEDucation, which started as a local New York event, eventually drew crowds from the Northeast U.S. and has now evolved into a bona fide national and international event for commercial-minded lighting people.

A vibrant energy and enthusiasm

The three ballrooms at the New York Hilton have been bustling with activity and energy. Until the last 90 minutes of the Tuesday show, it was hard to find an exhibitor who wasn’t engaging in a conversation or product review with an attendee.

Exhibitors with whom we spoke are oozing with enthusiasm for the high level of show traffic from interested and engaged lighting specifiers and decision makers. Even booths that weren’t blessed with high traffic locations within the large ballrooms were extremely positive with their feedback.

The designers with whom we spoke were impressed by the many architectural products that are on display by exhibitors. With the condensed nature of the show, brands with 7’ or 14’ wide spaces need to choose which top product families to display, making a booth visit very efficient for the attendee.

Craig Fox, LEDucation Seminars Co-Chair was very positive in his comments about the learning and education that is taking place in the numerous “eagerly attended” seminars.

Tuesday night events and parties

Six-person dinners, 25-person dinners and large scale functions were scattered throughout Manhattan after hours on Tuesday evening.

Inside.lighting attended the Current™ event where the $1 billion lighting company hosted a swanky mixer with its business partners, specifier clients and other customers. Current™ has many guiding principles including providing excellent attention and service to customers – and that was mirrored by the amazingly attentive caterers who politely and incessantly offered hors d'oeuvres to attendees every 1-2 minutes.

We then traveled 18 blocks south to the co-located offices of Acuity Brands and their agent partner Illuminations Inc. whose well attended event was buzzing with energy of lighting people across North America.  Billed as a game night, we didn’t observe anyone playing Scrabble or Connect Four, rather, the mingling crowds were treated to camaraderie and cocktails amidst the backdrop of an extremely well appointed showroom.  In warmer months, the rooftop treats Illuminations’ guests to 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline and an opportunity to change the color of the illuminated spire of the Freedom Tower two miles away, using a mobile app that controls the Winona RGBW fixtures atop Manhattan's tallest building.
