Two LED lighting companies – with similar names, in different markets – become one

A lighting industry acquisition that may require very little rebranding was announced on Tuesday. California-based pool lighting system manufacturer, PAL Lighting, has announced the acquisition of Texas-based architectural lighting manufacturer, Precision Architectural Lighting. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Established in 1988, Precision Architectural Lighting (Houston), often referred to as "P.A.L." in lighting circles, has an extensive history of providing linear LED fixture solutions collaborating with architecture and engineering firms throughout North America. PAL Lighting (California) specializes in providing lighting and controls products to a wide range of spaces from small spas to large resort style pools. The company also offers some landscape lighting products.

PAL Lighting (California) goes to market through a short list of independent agents that primarily serve the pool and spa market. Precision Architectural Lighting (Houston) utilizes a network of commercial lighting agents across the U.S. and Canada.

The acquisition is expected to bring US manufacturing and additional support to PAL Lighting (California), establishing a new North American headquarters based on a 4.24-acre block and a 35,196 square foot facility in Houston, Texas. In addition, the company will pursue product and market synergy growth opportunities for both PAL Lighting and Precision Architectural Lighting where they can expand across not only the pool, landscape and outdoor market but also the commercial lighting market.

“We are excited to bring the two organizations together and build on the existing foundation. Design, quality, and customer focus are common strengths and values embodied in both entities, and I believe we can unify our efforts to propel long term growth” – Allen Kalkomey, Executive Vice President & General Manager of PAL Lighting.

“Precision Architectural Lighting Houston, Texas is a perfect fit with our existing operation in Southern California. The collaboration of PAL Lighting and Precision Architectural Lighting will be the key in providing our custom lighting solutions to the North American market” said David Sanson, CEO of PAL Lighting.
