Major Brands and Agents Realign in Upstate NY
Signify and Current brands effectively swap agents across New York’s snow belt
IRONDEQUOIT, NEW YORK — In recent weeks, Signify’s Genlyte Solutions and Current’s HLI and GLI brands have aligned with new agents in the Upstate New York marketplace that spans Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and down to Elmira. The net result of all the shuffling is that the two major lighting lines effectively swapped agents in the marketplace.
As of yesterday, September 1, the Genlyte Solutions brands (Lightolier, Color Kinetics, Day Brite and others) are now represented by Lightspec. In June, Lightspec made news when it announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Bright Focus Sales in Ohio – also a Genlyte Solutions agent. The Bright Focus acquisition recently closed thus causing Lightspec and Genlyte Solutions to be partners throughout Upstate New York and much of Ohio. Lightspec also covers the Greater Toronto Area for numerous other brands.
As previously reported, the brands formerly known as Hubbell Lighting and GE Current and now known as Current HLI and Current GLI brands are now represented by Vertex Solutions across Upstate New York.
Acuity Brands continues to be represented by Point Source Group in Upstate New York. Cooper Lighting Solutions maintains its partnership with Quality Lighting Systems.
