Hapco Celebrates 75 Years of American Manufacturing Excellence in Lighting Infrastructure

Abingdon, VA —  Hapco, a leading American manufacturer of Lighting, Decorative, Solar, and Smart Poles, proudly announces its 75th Anniversary, marking a historic milestone in the company’s role in shaping lighting infrastructure across the United States.

Founded in 1951, Hapco was among the first companies to introduce aluminum street light poles and brackets and developed the industry’s first tapered aluminum light pole. Over the past 75 years, the company has earned numerous industry-first patents in pole design and vibration mitigation, establishing Hapco as a pioneer in performance-driven pole solutions.

Hapco’s reputation has been built on products engineered for exceptional longevity and lower total cost of ownership, supported by in-house R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing expertise. Many of the company’s earliest installations remain in service today, showing no structural issues and no noticeable change in appearance decades after installation—a testament to Hapco’s disciplined approach to materials, design, and manufacturing quality.

To commemorate the milestone, Hapco is introducing a 75th Anniversary Seal, which will appear throughout 2026 as a symbol of the company’s legacy of American manufacturing excellence.

As the company looks ahead, the anniversary reinforces the core principles that have defined Hapco for 75 years while highlighting the breadth of solutions it delivers today. These solutions—including Aluminum and Steel Poles, Decorative Streetscape Solutions, Solar Poles, and Smart Pole Solutions—serve Utility, DOT, Municipal, Commercial & Industrial, and OEM markets nationwide.

The anniversary year also coincides with the 250th Anniversary of the United States, a milestone that carries special significance for Hapco as an American manufacturer. Hapco products are proudly American-made, reflecting a long-standing commitment to domestic manufacturing, dependable performance, and pole infrastructure solutions built to serve communities across the nation.

Hapco’s success over the past 75 years has been driven by the dedication of its employees—whose craftsmanship is embedded in every product leaving the company’s 325,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing campus—and the continued trust of its representatives, customers, architects, engineers, and specifiers. These partnerships continue to shape the company’s solutions and reinforce Hapco’s reputation for quality, service, and reliability.

As Hapco enters its 75th year, the company does so with optimism and focus—committed to strengthening partnerships and delivering products that perform year after year, decade after decade.
