Deadline Approaching for 2025 IES Progress Report Submissions
Final Entries Due by Friday, May 16
There’s no shortage of lighting breakthroughs in a given year. But not every advancement makes it into the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Progress Report — an important form of recognition in the lighting industry. If you’re planning to submit, don’t wait: the window closes this Friday, May 16 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern.
Organized annually by the IES Progress Committee, the Report highlights notable advancements in lighting products, systems, research, and tools introduced between August 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025. Accepted submissions will be showcased across multiple platforms, including the IES25, the annual conference, a follow-up webinar, LD+A magazine, and the IES website. A Progress Report inclusion doesn’t just say you made something new — it says you moved the needle.
Submissions are reviewed for true industry progress: technical merit, novelty, and clear differentiation from what’s already out there. This is not an award for aesthetics or clever packaging. It's for those who can back up claims with data, demonstrate comparative advancements, and tell a compelling story of innovation.
Participation is open to all, though commercial product entries must include supporting documents — photometric data, technical sheets, and competitive comparisons where applicable. Research and publications must be finalized and publicly announced within the eligibility window.
Late entries are not considered, and the Committee does not extend deadlines. That means now is the time to gather your materials, finalize your case for significance, and submit.
