Shon Yust, owner of Mercer Zimmerman, announced he has named Trevor Kramer president of the lighting and controls agency, effective immediately. Yust will assume the role of chief executive officer and will remain actively involved in the company.

Yust made the announcement September 26th at Mercer Zimmerman’s “Light+” tradeshow and event at the Lightwell building in Kansas City, MO, which drew more than 250 attendees from the region and country, including lighting and controls manufacturers, architects, electrical contractors, general contractors, engineers and distributors.

Kramer, who joined Mercer Zimmerman in 2016, was most recently the company’s vice president of operations. As president, he will continue to have responsibility for operations and staff in Mercer Zimmerman’s territories, which includes Kansas, the western half of Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. The company’s headquarters are in Overland Park, KS.

Kramer has played an instrumental role in Mercer Zimmerman’s accelerated growth, with three acquisitions in three years, which have not only expanded the company’s footprint in the Midwest but offer customers a seamless way to access a wide array of architectural solutions—from lighting and controls to interior spaces. Most recently, Yust announced the acquisition of Built Solutions by an affiliate of Mercer Zimmerman. Built designs and installs prefabricated, modular interiors using DIRTT technology.

Yust praised Kramer’s business acumen and uncanny ability to manage company growth while creating lasting relationships with employees and customers alike.

“I’ve had the joy of seeing Trevor grow as a professional and a person,” he said, “and I’m thrilled to elevate him to president of Mercer Zimmerman. This is really about acknowledging the role he’s been playing for awhile now. I offer him my heart-felt congratulations and know the entire team feels the same way.”

“I’m honored and humbled by this opportunity,” Kramer said. “It wouldn’t be possible without Shon, who has opened so many doors for me and everyone who works here. He’s a mentor and friend—and he’s not going anywhere so I’ll continue to have a close partnership with him. I’m also grateful to the entire Mercer Zimmerman team, who amaze me every day with their talent, commitment and passion.”

Kramer reiterated that while his title has changed, his role remains largely the same and he’ll continue to interact with employees and customers in the same ways.
