Casambi enters wired lighting control market with new DALI controller series

Helsinki, Finland – February 29, 2024 – Global leader in smart lighting control, Casambi, has unveiled its latest innovation – Salvador, a new series of DALI controllers. This announcement signifies the tech firm's strategic entry into the wired lighting control market, establishing its new position as a mainstream lighting controls provider.

Casambi will introduce at the Light + Building tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany, its new DALI controller product series, Salvador. The range aims to enhance flexibility in lighting control by providing wireless, wired, and hybrid options. This initiative the founder says aligns with the company's mission of enabling flawless lighting experiences for all:

Salvador2000 (002).png"We're introducing a new level of user-friendliness to the world of DALI. From design to commissioning, wiring, installation, and everyday use, Casambi simplifies every aspect of lighting control. Our core value is to make the work as easy and infallible as possible through our extremely intuitive technology. With this new DALI controller series, we can offer unparalleled flexibility, extending our reach from wireless to the wired market" said Timo Pakkala, Co-Founder and Head of Product Management & Strategy, adding

"Whether users prefer wireless, wired, or a combination, our goal is to enable Casambi in any installation, in any setting, guaranteeing full interoperability with key protocols like DALI, Bluetooth® Low Energy, and EnOcean. This creates vast possibilities for the market and the delivery of feature-rich lighting control solutions for any environment.”

How does it work?

With Salvador, wired and wireless devices can coexist harmoniously in Casambi applications with no limitations when mixing different product types. DALI drivers integrate into the Casambi system through wired connections, operating seamlessly as normal Casambi-enabled devices. The first two form factors in the series can manage up to 64 DALI addresses and support DALI DT6, DT8, as well as D4i via the Casambi cloud API.

The Salvador 2064 comes with an integrated 130 mA power supply, eliminating the need for other power supplies on the DALI bus. Additionally, it features an internal Real-time clock (RTC) with backup energy storage and housing with cable strain relief. The second form factor, Salvador 1064, requires an external power supply.

The Salvador 1064 is available for sampling, with full-scale production scheduled to kick off in Q2 2024. The unit pricing for Salvador 1064 is set to be highly competitive, positioning it favorably against existing DALI controllers in the market. The Salvador 2064 is poised for sampling starting in Q3 2024. Additionally, the company is preparing to launch a dedicated US version, further expanding its commitment to meet the diverse needs of the American market.

“With wired and standards-based lighting control solutions prevailing in the construction industry, our new wired offering unlocks immense potential. We’re bringing the Casambi experience to DALI, while keeping costs in check, making it flexible for any setup, and giving easy access to our feature-rich control applications. This new opportunity to combine wireless and wired networks not only extends the lifespan of buildings and installations but also enhances sustainability, opening up endless possibilities."
