Hess Bishop Bollard Receives Art & Science of Lighting Award from National Lighting Bureau

Gaffney, South Carolina – Hess, a member of EXPERIENCE Brands, received a special citation for the Bishop illuminating bollard in the 2nd annual Art & Science of Lighting Awards from the National Lighting Bureau (NLB). The Bishop bollard was recognized as a product that advances the preservation of nighttime lighting quality by a distinguished panel of judges. The award was presented by lighting industry veteran Mary Beth Gotti, Chair of the NLB, during the LEDucation trade show and conference in New York City on March 16, 2022.

The purpose of the Art & Science of Lighting Awards is to give recognition to outstanding products that either advances the science of lighting through exceptional technical innovation that significantly improves how effectively and efficiently high-quality lighting can be specified and installed or the art of lighting through outstanding aesthetic appeal based on the innovative use of lighting technology, materials, or sculptural forms. Products that fulfill both criteria are presented a single combined award. Nominations are only accepted from professional lighting specifiers and final selections are made by an independent jury of knowledgeable and experienced professionals in the lighting industry.

 

The Bishop family is comprised of a high-performance illuminating bollard and columns in three pedestrian-scale heights.

The Bishop bollard is a high-performance architectural illuminating bollard for use in public and private outdoor spaces, landscapes, and pathways. The fully shielded bollard employs proprietary optics that enable extraordinary spacing of up to eight mounting heights while meeting or exceeding IES recommended light levels for pathways and sidewalks in all classifications. This exceptional spacing performance allows for fewer fixtures, as well as reduced material and labor costs associated with installation. Product design details include concealed hardware, flangeless mounting, fine adjustment of optics orientation to match site conditions, and a rotatable shaft to align the luminaire independent of anchor bolt installation. Light sources may be warm or neutral white color temperatures or monochromatic 560nm amber for environmentally sensitive wildlife applications.

The Bishop product family includes complementary columns in 10’, 12’, or 14’ heights to provide a cohesive site lighting design solution.
