Acuity Brands Changes Agents in North Jersey
Acuity Brands Lighting is making another sales coverage maneuver in the New York City metro area – this time on the west side of the Hudson River.
Effective May 1, 2021, Acuity Brands will be parting ways with Liberty Lighting Group and will be changing representation to Illuminations Inc. (I2).
I2 has long been the Acuity Brands representative in Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern NJ and Delaware. In February, I2 purchased the Acuity-owned sales force in NY City, New York Digital. Soon, the agency will fill in the North Jersey puzzle piece and have the entire territory for the New York City and Philadelphia metro areas.
Sole Representation and Accountability:
- One agent will cover the specs that originate in NY City for projects in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
- Electrical distributor leaders Cooper Electric Supply (Sonepar) and Turtle & Hughes have dozens of branches that previously spanned 3 Acuity agents – that now all fall under I2’s sole footprint – including the key decision makers at each distributor's North Jersey offices.
- No more agent debates over whether Princeton and the rest of Mercer County should be served by the North Jersey or Philly rep. Ditto for Ocean County and Atlantic City. It soon will be in I2’s full control.
- This move is especially bold since Liberty Lighting Group is believed to be the largest-revenue agent in North Jersey. According to the LLG website, they currently have a team of 33 people.

West Chester, PA March 25, 2021 – Illuminations Inc., a manufacturer’s representative agency serving the Philadelphia, metro-New York City, Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware markets is excited to announce that they will be expanding into the Northern New Jersey market on May 1, 2021. The expansion into this new territory takes place two months after Illuminations acquisition of the New York Digital sales operation from Acuity Brands and subsequent extension into in the metro-NYC market.

Illuminations Integrated Solutions and Field Service Controls Team has been operating in Northern New Jersey for over two years and will now take on a greater role within the organization as Illuminations enters that lighting market for the first time. “We are extremely excited to expand our Controls and Field Services team into the Northern New Jersey market,” said Bill McAfee, Senior Director of Integrated Solutions Applications & Field Service. “We already have great customer relationships in the North Jersey market and now having the ability to work with them on lighting opportunities is extremely exciting.”
Illuminations will enter the Northern New Jersey territory with Acuity Brands as their lead manufacturer. A full line card announcement will be made prior to May 1, 2021.
