Maryland operation to serve as R&D hub and East Coast support center

In a move that signals deeper investment in U.S. manufacturing and entertainment lighting tech, California-based Elation Lighting has acquired the assets of X-Laser, a Maryland-based laser light manufacturer known primarily in entertainment circles for its safety-focused, high-powered laser projection systems. The acquisition gives Elation not only access to X-Laser’s engineering and compliance chops, but also a foothold in East Coast manufacturing.

Elation, which is already a sister brand to Acclaim Lighting, is spinning the brand into a new independent company, X-Laser USA, which will continue to operate from its Laurel, Maryland facility under the leadership of General Manager Adam Raugh. The site will serve double duty: as the core for X-Laser’s R&D and production, and as a manufacturing and service center for select Elation products.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Small But Strategic Relevance to C&I Circles

While X-Laser is mostly recognized for its work in live events, clubs, and touring productions, its presence occasionally brushes against the commercial lighting world — particularly when high-impact visual effects meet architectural lighting ambitions. The acquisition may not cause ripples across the commercial-industrial lighting sector, but it does deepen Elation’s technical bench and product diversity in ways worth tracking.

Elation — typically aligned with the A/V side of entertainment technology — sometimes reaches into commercial markets through reps that straddle both domains. While it often goes to market with specialty AV reps, Elation is also represented by a handful of mainstream commercial lighting agents including Lighting Dynamics in Columbus, Texas Lighting Solutions in Dallas, Chesapeake Lighting in DC, and 2M Lighting in San Antonio. Those firms may now have new tools to offer clients with crossover needs in entertainment, civic, or large-scale public venues.

A Global Network, A Local Footprint

The acquisition allows Elation to globally distribute X-Laser’s current and future products through its offices in Los Angeles, Mexico City, and the Netherlands. At the same time, it marks a rare investment in U.S.-based production in an industry often reliant on offshore manufacturing.

Raugh, who has spent two decades in laser manufacturing and compliance, emphasized that existing customers will see continuity in service, warranties, and product support. Now with the backing of Elation’s distribution network, X-Laser USA is positioned for scale — without losing its regulatory edge.

The deal also fits into a broader growth narrative for Elation’s parent company, ADJ Group of Companies, which includes ADJ Products and Acclaim Lighting. And yes, there’s a new logo.
