Retailers Pull Minka Lighting Fixtures After Recall Notice
Mounting component in Vortic Flow series may fail, prompting injury concerns
Minka Lighting has issued a recall for approximately 2,350 Vortic Flow Series light fixtures due to a critical defect in the ceiling-mount connection component. According to a recall notice dated May 29, 2025, the connection hardware can weaken over time, potentially allowing the fixture to fall unexpectedly and posing an impact injury hazard.
The recall affects three specific models from the Vortic Flow line: the 10-light pendant (model no. 3679), the 8-light pendant (model no. 4677), and the 18-light chandelier (model no. 4679). These steel fixtures feature a dark bronze and mosaic gold finish and were sold through national lighting and home improvement stores, as well as online platforms such as Ferguson.com, Wayfair.com and Lamps.com, from August 2019 through October 2024. Prices ranged from $850 to $1,500.
The affected products were manufactured in China and imported by Minka Lighting LLC, based in Corona, California.
Only Two Reported Issues. No Injuries to Date
Minka Lighting has received two reports of fixtures partially detaching from their mounts. However, no incidents involving fully fallen fixtures or injuries have been reported. The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure to address the potential for structural failure at the mounting point.
Consumers and end users are advised to stop using the recalled fixtures and contact Minka Lighting for a free inspection and repair. The company is offering on-site service to replace the defective connection component.
The fixtures can be identified by their model numbers, which are printed on the packaging or purchase records. Model 3679 measures 30 by 21 inches and weighs 25.7 pounds; model 4677 measures 11 by 30 inches and weighs 16 pounds; model 4679 measures 37.5 by 27 inches and weighs 28.6 pounds.
