Selux Corporation appoints Rolland Mok as CEO after his 18-year run at Zumtobel
Rolland Mok, recently the CEO – Americas of Zumtobel, has departed the company and is now CEO of Selux Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of the German lighting manufacturer. He succeeds Peter Stanway, who is stepping down from his role as CEO of Selux after 12 years.
Zumtobel has announced that Kevin Thompson, a 13-year company veteran, has taken over as Interim CEO – Americas, while continuing his current responsibilities as General Manager of the Middle East, India, and Africa (MEIA) region.
Close-Knit Connections
Both Zumtobel and Selux are recognized for their high-performance, architecturally driven lighting solutions. While Zumtobel Group is headquartered in Austria and Selux in Germany, their U.S. headquarters are located just a mile apart in Highland, New York, a sleepy suburban town about 40 miles north of New York City on the west side of the Hudson River. This proximity means that Mok’s daily commute will see minimal change of about 90 seconds or less as he transitions from one leadership role to another.
Mok’s move to Selux comes after an 18-year tenure with Zumtobel, where he led the Americas region for the past six years. Prior to this, he served as COO and CFO after relocating from the company’s Austrian headquarters in 2015.
Continuity in Leadership
Peter Stanway, the outgoing Selux CEO stated, “Rolland has been a close professional ally and friend for many years, and I am confident that he will continue to drive Selux forward with the same commitment I have given over the past 12 years.”
Zumtobel acknowledged Mok’s contributions and leadership in its announcement, stating: "It is bittersweet to announce the upcoming departure of our colleague and friend Rolland Mok, CEO – Americas. After more than 18 years of exceptional commitment and service, he will be leaving the company at the end of January 2025. We are delighted for him that he is now taking a new path, even though we very much regret his departure. We wish him all the best for the future, every success and, above all, good health and happiness."
Zumtobel also highlighted Thompson’s extensive experience within Zumtobel Group, stating that he began his career with the company in 2012 as a product manager at Thorn Lighting in the UK before taking on leadership roles in the Middle East, including Sales Director and Marketing Director.
With both companies rooted in European lighting expertise and their U.S. operations closely linked geographically, the leadership changes signal a continuation of their focus on high-quality architectural lighting solutions in the North American market.
