New Faces Take Key Roles in 2025 IALD Leadership

Carla Wilkins named President-Elect, four new Directors appointed

 

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) recently announced the results of its 2025 election, introducing a blend of new and returning leaders to its Board of Directors and Membership Committee. These appointments, effective Jan. 1, 2025, represent a strategic step forward for the organization, which continues to drive innovation and excellence in lighting design.

Among the most notable changes is the election of Carla Wilkins, IALD, of Lichtvision Design GmbH, Germany, as the new President-Elect and member of the Board of Directors. Wilkins is set to succeed current President Andrea Hartranft, FIALD, of Hartranft Lighting Studios, United States, at the conclusion of Hartranft’s term.

The Board of Directors, which provides strategic and financial oversight for the IALD, also welcomes these four newly elected Directors At Large:

  • Brenda Castillo, Design IALD, of Circadia, Mexico
  • Aram Ebben, IALD, CLD, of EXP, United States
  • Carla Jardim, Design IALD, of The Flaming Beacon, Germany
  • Ardra Zinkon, IALD, CLD, of Zinkon Creative Studio, United States

These individuals join existing Directors At Large Claudio Ramos, FIALD, CLD, of Electrolight, United States, and Kevan Shaw, FIALD, of KSLD, United Kingdom. Additionally, Brian Stacy, IALD, of Arup, United States, continues to serve as Director Pro Tem, and Cherine Saroufim, IALD, of Atelier Saroufim, Lebanon, remains the President’s Selected Director.

Brandon Thrasher, Design IALD, of Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design, United States, continues his role as Treasurer, further ensuring continuity in the Board’s financial oversight.

 

New Talent on Membership Committee

The IALD Membership Committee, responsible for evaluating applications for voting and non-voting membership, also benefits from new leadership. Nicolo Brambilla, IALD, of Schuler Shook, Australia, and Kristin Bredal, IALD, of Zenisk AS, Norway, have been elected as committee members. They join Archit Jain, IALD, of Oculus Light Studio, United States, and Neha Sivaprasad, IALD, of SOL Light Studio, United States, under the continued leadership of Membership Chair Rachel Fitzgerald, IALD, CLD, of Stantec, United States.

The newly elected professionals bring a wealth of international experience to their roles, reflecting the IALD’s commitment to fostering a global perspective in lighting design. As the organization moves into 2025, these appointments signal an exciting period of growth and opportunity for the lighting design community.
