New 320-watt driver reduces heat, improves reliability, and enhances energy efficiency

As LED light sources replace conventional HPS systems and expand into higher lumen applications, the demand for higher power LED fixtures grows. Manufacturers often achieve this by using multiple lower power drivers.

A practical limitation is the available space within the driver compartment and the fixtures' heat dissipation capability. LED drivers convert utility AC power to DC suitable for the LEDs, and the efficiency of this power conversion determines how much heat needs to be dissipated. For example, an application requiring 640W would need four of these drivers, generating approximately 63W of heat. The fixture must not only be large enough to accommodate the four drivers but also effectively dissipate this heat, as overheating can reduce reliability.

The most obvious solution is to create a driver that is small enough to minimize the footprint in the fixture while maintaining higher power conversion efficiency and reducing heat generation.

The new Advance Xitanium 320W driver accomplishes this. It delivers 320W of output LED power in the same package traditionally used for a 180W driver, meaning you now need half as many drivers as before. Additionally, this driver offers over 94% efficiency, allowing the same 640W fixture to consume 24W less power—an impressive 38% less power consumption. This driver not only enhances reliability but also leads to energy savings and sustainability benefits. It’s a win-win!
