Mercer Zimmerman Expands with Custom Prefab Acquisition
Acquisition aims to expand lighting agency into new market segments in Midwest U.S.
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS — An affiliate of Mercer Zimmerman, a prominent Kansas-based lighting agent, has acquired Built Interior Construction, forming a new entity called Built Solutions, LLC. The deal, whose terms were not disclosed, marks a significant expansion for Mercer Zimmerman into the construction sector.
Built, headquartered in Overland Park, KS, employs 17 people. The company has operated in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Central and Southern Illinois, and South Dakota, with showrooms in Overland Park, St. Louis, and Des Moines.
Chad Thacker, previously an outside sales representative at Mercer Zimmerman, will lead Built Solutions as President. Russ Branden, co-owner of Built Interior Construction, will remain with the company to oversee operations, ensuring continuity during the transition.
Mercer Zimmerman, known for representing Cooper Lighting, is also one of the largest U.S. agents — if not the largest — for H.E. Williams, a local lighting manufacturer headquartered in Carthage, Missouri. The agency has been expanding its footprint across the Midwest in recent years, now serving Western Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Built Solutions will continue to specialize in modular construction, offering customizable prefab walls, integrated technology, raised floors, and acoustic management systems. A key component of its offerings is DIRTT (Do It Right This Time) Construction Systems, which provides modular interior elements supporting various functionalities.
The integration aims to enhance both companies' capabilities, particularly in projects requiring advanced construction technologies alongside lighting solutions. The partnership also aims to bolster services across various sectors, including healthcare and education.
