Board of Directors and Membership Committee welcome fresh talent


The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) has announced the election results for its Board of Directors and Membership Committee. This significant event in the lighting design community marks the beginning of new terms for the elected members, starting January 1, 2024.



IALD Board of Directors Welcomes Four New Members

The IALD Board of Directors, a governing body of eleven members, plays a crucial role in providing strategic and financial oversight to the organization. The Board, meeting quarterly, directs the CEO in managing the association.

The newly elected Directors At Large are:

  • Susannah Gilbard, IALD, CLD, from Lightcraft in New York, NY, United States.

  • Claudio Ramos, IALD, CLD, from Electrolight in San Francisco, CA, United States.

  • Kevan Shaw, FIALD, from KSLD in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

  • Carla Wilkins, IALD, from Lichtvision Design GmbH in Berlin, Germany.


These individuals bring diverse experiences and perspectives to the Board, reflecting the IALD's commitment to leadership and excellence in lighting design.


Membership Committee Sees New and Re-elected Members

The IALD Membership Committee, responsible for determining acceptance of new members, has also welcomed new faces. This committee adheres to the IALD Membership Criteria and Guidelines Document in its decision-making process.


The newly elected Membership Chair is:

  • Rachel Fitzgerald, IALD, CLD, from Stantec in San Francisco, CA, United States.


Joining her on the Committee are:

  • Archit Jain, IALD, from Oculus Light Studio in Los Angeles, CA, United States, who has been re-elected for a new term.

  • Neha Sivaprasad, IALD, from SOL Light Studio in Fremont, CA, United States.


Founded in 1969 the IALD is a globally recognized non-profit organization. It supports a network of over 1,500 independent lighting design professionals who meet its rigorous qualification standards. The IALD's mission focuses on advancing the global profession of lighting design through leadership, advocacy, education, community engagement, and promoting excellence in the field. Its vision is to create a better world through outstanding lighting design and to foster universal recognition of the power of light in human life.
