Signify introduces new germicidal UV luminaires and solutions
Signify introduces new commercial UV-C lighting products to help businesses add an extra layer of air, surface and object disinfection

UV-C lighting is a proven disinfectant for air, surfaces and objects, and can play an important role in a broad range of applications such as schools, offices, retail outlets, banks, fitness centers, hospitality, the food and beverage industry, and warehouses and distribution centers. The effectiveness of Signify’s UV-C light sources on the inactivation of SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, has been validated in laboratory testing conducted at the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories at Boston University.

The following are now available in the US, and can be used to disinfect air, surfaces and objects.
Air disinfection solutions: Germicidal, Indirect Upper-air UV luminaires
Signify offers wall- and ceiling-mounted UV-C luminaires to continuously disinfect the air. The light source is angled upwards and installed at a high height away from people. These luminaires are ideal for use in high-contact areas and where people congregate.
Surface disinfection solutions: Germicidal, Direct UV luminaires
These ceiling-mounted UV-C luminaires can be controlled automatically to disinfect areas outside of businesses’ operating hours and when people and animals are not present. They must be used as instructed and with appropriate UL safeguards, such as the Philips Dynalite control system. The luminaire is not intended for and must not be used to disinfect the surfaces of medical devices or for medical purposes.
Object disinfection solutions: BioShift UV-C disinfection chambers
These chambers are for disinfecting objects and shared devices such as headsets and handheld scanners. They can also be used for the disinfection of clothes after fitting room use. The chambers inactivate SARS-CoV-2 to Log6 level within a 1-minute cycle time, providing a disinfection dose of 80 mJ/cm², which exceeds the required level to achieve this.1 Both the tabletop and the extra-large version come with advanced features to provide secure disinfection, including door sensors, magnetic locks to prevent accidental door opening, and inspection windows. The racks are designed to minimize shadowing, and the display screens indicate lamp life and UV-C output. The chambers are not intended for and must not be used to disinfect medical devices or for medical purposes.
UV-C light should always be used by professionals in accordance with safety requirements and instructions to avoid exposure since it can damage the skin and eyes.
