Lumenpulse Group Discontinues AlphaLED Brand

Citing "economic uncertainty driven by the ongoing pandemic", Lumenpulse Group has announced the closure of the AlphaLED Manchester, UK manufactuing facilities as of December 31, 2020.  

2013:  AlphaLED, an independently-owned brand at the time, was recognized with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, one of the UK’s most prestigious business honors. It also won the Manufacturer of the Year prize at the 2013 Lux Awards.

2014:  Lumenpulse acquired the AlphaLED brand for $30.4M.  The prior year revenues were $20.6M.  

2015:  Lumenpulse announced the North American launch of AlphaLED products.

2020:  Lumenpulse closes the UK AlphaLED factory.  The AlphaLED brand and its products will be discontinued. These events seem to have little-to-no impact on the North American market.  More info below: 

In an exchange with a Lumenpulse company spokesperson, we learned the following:

AlphaLED discontinuation and its global reach:

A recent announcement was made that the AlphaLED products would be discontinued as of December 2020 for the EMEA and APAC markets. All information related to the soon-to-be-discontinued products will remain for reference and consultation purposes only on the AlphaLED site. 

As all AlphaLED products will be discontinued, the brand AlphaLED will be retired and no longer available for purchase.

Lumenpulse is devoted to delivering high-performance, world-class luminaires, including our award-winning Cylinders and Lumencore downlight family, to the European, Middle East and Asian Pacific markets, and we will continue to do so through our remaining point source product offering.
 

Impact on Lumenpulse's North American product offering:

When Lumenpulse launched the Lumenalpha series of downlights and spotlights to the North American market in July 2015, selected models from AlphaLED were converted and their design adapted to be manufactured and sold in the North American market. 

The product offerings of the two brands, AlphaLED and Lumenalpha, now grouped under the Lumenpulse Point Source product category, were distinct for each market and therefore, no AlphaLED products were sold in the United States. 

All Lumenpulse point source products, as currently listed on the Lumenpulse Product webpages, remain available for the United States and global markets.
