Former founder returns to the company as executive chairman
Milan-based Flos B&B Italia Group, a global maker of high-end lighting and furniture, has announced significant leadership changes. CEO Daniel Lalonde is stepping down from his role, though he will continue to serve on the company’s board to support ongoing initiatives.
In a notable development, Piero Gandini has been appointed as Executive Chairman, "effective immediately" according to the company announcement. This marks Gandini's return to the group he helped establish in 2018, signaling a new chapter for the organization as it continues to pursue growth in the luxury design market.
Gandini’s reappointment comes as a notable development for the group, which encompasses brands such as Flos, B&B Italia, and Louis Poulsen. “I have returned to contribute to a value-creation plan for the Group, grounded in leadership, product creativity, accelerated decision-making processes, and a strong cultural identity rooted in the historic brands that make up the Group,” Gandini said in the company’s announcement.
Outgoing CEO Lalonde will remain on the board to support its future endeavors. The company expressed gratitude for his leadership, citing his vision and dedication as central to the group’s achievements during his tenure.
The leadership shift follows the earlier departure of Roberta Silva, CEO of the Flos subsidiary, in May 2024. Silva, who joined the company in 2019, was instrumental in driving the brand’s international expansion. Her tenure also coincided with the opening of a flagship showroom in New York City, which remains a cornerstone of the group’s U.S. presence.
The flagship showroom on Madison Avenue in Manhattan spans over 25,000 square feet across two floors. The space aims to host architects, designers, and developers, featuring products from Flos, B&B Italia, Maxalto, Louis Poulsen, and others.
The company stated that the leadership transition and Gandini’s return are seen as integral to positioning Flos B&B Italia Group for its next chapter of growth.
