Mercer Zimmerman inks deal to acquire Nebraska & Iowa agent

Mercer Zimmerman, the largest lighting agent in the Kansas City metro area, has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of AES Lighting Group, a leading lighting agency in Nebraska and Iowa. Both agents represent Cooper Lighting Solutions as well as some other overlapping independent manufacturers.

Headquartered in Nebraska, AES is one of the longest-tenured Cooper agencies – dating back to the 1960’s we believe. AES expanded its territory into Iowa over 15 years ago. The business will be known as Mercer Zimmerman throughout the entire territory. AES Principal, Mark Mattea, and other AES team members will be part of the new organization.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the next 30 days.

Below is the announcement we received from Mercer Zimmerman:

AES Lighting Group is pleased to announce that we have entered into a definitive acquisition agreement with Mercer Zimmerman, a leader in the lighting and controls solutions industry.

Our greatest asset has always been our people, and by joining forces with Mercer Zimmerman we have made a huge increase in the quality of that asset. This merger will create a more comprehensive infrastructure to better serve and represent our manufacturers and business partners. Our companies hold similar values and philosophies on doing business: establishing strong alliances and lasting relationships with our business partners, an emphasis on honesty and integrity, and a commitment to recruiting and retaining the best talent in the industry.

Mercer Zimmerman will leverage AES Lighting Group’s existing talent and office locations to provide our clients access to the top lighting and controls solutions across the globe.

As with all important business decisions, we will work closely with our manufacturers and many customers to make the integration process is as smooth as possible. Though we will now operate as one company - Mercer Zimmerman – our customers can rely on the same personal working relationships they have had in the past. They will still be working with the same people and can depend on the same quality of work.

We look forward to an exciting and prosperous future for our employees, our project partners, and our manufacturers.
