GE Current Eyes Relocation & Announces Price Increase
GE Current, a Daintree company, in negotiations to relocate from historic Nela Park
Local reports out of Northeast Ohio cite that executives of Current recently met with the Beachwood, Ohio City Council's Economic Development Committee to outline proposed plans to relocate out of its Nela Park offices in East Cleveland to a 42,000 square foot facility in nearby Beachwood. The proposed move would affect approximately 120 employees.
According to a Current spokesperson, if the company were to move it would plan to maintain a small presence at Nela Park utilizing lab space and some use of The Institute for customer and training sessions. The company aims to find a space that will allow for a more collaborative work environment and one that is more in-line with Current's new flexible hybrid work model for employees.
According to News 5 Cleveland reporter, John Kosich, the Beachwood City Council has yet to sign off on the economic incentive package that would make the move happen. The council meets tonight.

Chip Taylor, Current’s Chief Commercial Officer, communicated a price increase to distributor partners citing the following:
This year, every industry continues to be impacted by unprecedented inflationary commodity pressure and component availability challenges. Throughout this year, we have tried to minimize the price increases to our customers; however, the cost pressure is not abating.
Therefore, we are announcing the following price actions:
- A price increase of 5% on all LED lamps and controls. The price increase will be effective October 1st, 2021
- A price increase of up to 10% on all LED fixtures and poles. The price increase will be effective October 1st, 2021.
