Racism & The Lighting Industry

Amidst the recent headlines relating to racial inequality, the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) has been visible and proactive in its communication relating to racial equality.

On Wednesday, June 24, the organization continued its lead-by-example approach by orchestrating a webinar on the topic.  Three lighting designers spoke openly on about a topic that simply isn't discussed openly, "Impacts of Racism on the Lighting Industry."

The panel comprised of Edward Bartholomew, Lisa Reed and Nelson Jenkins.  They presented prepared content and also took several questions from the webcast attendees.  The triumvirate offered actionable ideas that if we all implemented could lead to positive changes in the industry and in society.

Many lighting professionals join us in giving a tip of the cap to Bartholomew, Reed and Jenkins for their contributions and leadership courage exemplified by their efforts to drive positive change for the industry.  Thank you.
