Edison Price Lighting files for Bankruptcy Protection
Chapter 11: Agencies, manufacturers and suppliers among the creditors
On May 1, 2020, Edison Price Lighting, Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. According to the filings, the company has liabilities of approximately $8.5 million.
For much of its 68-year history, the brand has been a favorite among specifiers and has been a part of a long list of iconic projects. The company has long prided itself on manufacturing highly engineered, high-performance downlights and other luminaires in its New York factory. For decades, that factory was in the shadows of the 59th St. Bridge in Queens.
In an email that Edison Price Lighting sent to its manufacturers' representatives, the company described how it has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They went on to explain that they are "still in operation" and "intend to keep operating for another 68 years!"

Among the creditors are Elite Lighting ($300,000) and 42 lighting agencies, including ALA in Dallas ($54,695), Lighting Environments in Maryland ($38,050) and Specified Lighting Sales in Clearwater, Florida ($36,406).
