Position overview:

Domingo Gonzalez Associates Inc. - Architectural Lighting Design is an award-winning NYC-based firm with a diversified practice reflecting our commitment to excellence in design. We are currently seeking to fill a full-time Junior Lighting Designer position.

The Junior Lighting Designer position is a very detail-oriented position critical to the success of the company, requiring curiosity, resilience and a commitment to professional excellence. We count on the Junior Designer’s efficiency, initiative and intuition, as his/her design responsibilities include work on multiple projects with various supervisors and competing deadlines.


Typical duties assigned to a Junior Designer may include:

  • Developing lighting layouts and luminaire families in Revit, in accordance with DGA standards
  • Creating, manipulating and reviewing AutoCAD drawings
  • Creating, manipulating and reviewing AGi32 calculations
  • Site survey and field work; photography
  • Creating, scheduling and attending mockups (in-house & on-site)
  • Supporting various QA/QC protocols
  • Assistance with preparing estimates and LPD analyses (Excel)
  • Creating detailed hand-drawn sketches and computer-generated renderings (Photoshop / Illustrator / 3DSMax / Rhino / Sketchup)

The right candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Good problem-solving and hand drawing skills
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • The ability to function effectively in a team dynamic
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (v.2013 or greater)
  • Understanding of computer-generated lighting calculations (preferably AGI32) and photometry
  • Experience with Revit, 3DSMax, Rhino, InDesign, MicroStation a plus
