Overview:

We are seeking a talented and creative Industrial/Product Designer to join our team and help shape the future of commercial lighting. In this role, you will be responsible for developing innovative product concepts from initial ideation through to 3D visualization and implementation. You will create compelling designs, sketches, and storyboards to communicate ideas, and collaborate closely with engineering and marketing teams to bring concepts to life. You'll also contribute to the continuous improvement of our existing product lines, identifying opportunities for refinement in both form and function.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the design team on all phases of the product development process, from concept to production.
  • Support multiple design projects at once, helping track timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, materials, and lighting technologies to inform design decisions.
  • Build and maintain accurate 3D CAD models and technical drawings for prototyping and production.
  • Assist in design reviews with Sales, Engineering, and Marketing to align concepts with market needs.
  • Create presentation materials, prototypes, and design documentation to communicate ideas clearly.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Sales to refine designs for manufacturability and performance.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and lighting components.
  • Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards and assist with documentation for ETL/UL product certifications.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for manufacturing and marketing use (e.g., spec sheets, submittals, B.O.M.s, production drawings).
  • Help coordinate with vendors and purchasing team to support quoting and procurement.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed to support the design and development team.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design preferred; candidates with Mechanical or Electrical Engineering backgrounds and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software — SolidWorks preferred; familiarity with Rhino or similar tools is a plus.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong sketching, rendering, and visual communication skills. Experience with tools like KeyShot, Blender, or equivalent.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Monday.com, Trello, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on design quality and accuracy.
  • Able to quickly understand and apply new concepts, technologies, and design challenges.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisions and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines when needed.

 

Qualifications:
  • A strong passion for design, with a sharp eye for detail and a creative, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team while contributing original ideas throughout the design process.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and production technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present design concepts and feedback.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • A portfolio of relevant design work is required to demonstrate skills, creativity, and design thinking.
