SGM Lighting is looking for a polished, motivated, and entrepreneurial Regional Sales Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key customers while driving business growth through our reps and dealers in the Northeast USA and Eastern Canada. This position reports directly to the Head of Sales – Americas.
Ideally, candidates reside in the NY Tri-State Area (with easy access to NYC a plus!) although exceptional candidates throughout the NE region will be considered. This role involves at least 50% travel in the assigned territory. Previous sales/RSM experience with an existing network of contacts (reps, dealers, specifiers) in this space is preferred.

What You’ll Do
- Drive Sales: Manage sales activities in your assigned territory to achieve or exceed revenue goals aligned with company objectives.
- Build Relationships: Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with key customers, including dealers, representatives, and specifiers.
- Collaborate: Work closely with reps and dealers to strategize and close business opportunities.
- Present & Train: Conduct product demos, technical training, and presentations to specifiers and industry partners.
- Track & Report: Maintain accurate sales records, track project pipelines, and provide regular updates to the Head of Sales.
- Market Insights: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities.
- Attend Events: Represent SGM at regional and national trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product management, and customer service) to optimize sales efforts.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (theatre, business, design, or equivalent) and 5+ years of sales experience in entertainment and architectural lighting.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of current LED lighting technology, including photometrics, standards and energy codes. Familiarity with DMX/RDM, sACN, Art-Net, NDI and other advanced control networks is a plus.
- Lighting Sales Expertise: Experience with lighting rep, dealer, and distribution sales channels. Knowledge of the lighting specification market (with existing contacts) a huge plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a customer-first mindset. Top-notch presentation skills needed.
- Travel Ability: This is a regional role, necessitating frequent (>50%) overnight travel within the region. Occasional international travel expected; valid US passport required
- CRM/Software Knowledge: Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Independent & Collaborative: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
