Regional Sales Manager I (Lighting): San Francisco, CA | Seattle, WA | Denver, CO


About the role

This position will develop, implement, and drive sales strategies for the assigned region and manage the relevant Sales Agent Network with the intent to create demand through specifications for the assigned Leviton Lighting products of Birchwood and Intense Lighting. This role is responsible for increasing market penetration, improving product mix of strategic products to drive profitable growth, and achieving the region's sales goals.

The ideal candidate for this position will serve as a regional sales manager, overseeing all relevant territory sales agents, and as an integral dimension of managing strategic key customers, leveraging key relationships albeit lighting designers, architects, engineers, agents, contractors and distributors. This candidate shall have a deep understanding and knowledge of the entire specification and sales channel as it is critical to ensure the necessary pull through to drive performance, sales growth, and profitability.

 

Responsibilities
  • Determine and implement the region's sales strategy, within the context of Leviton's broader business strategy (Integration and Intelligence)

  • Develop a comprehensive sales plan for the assigned region focusing on achievement of region sales objectives and growth.

  • Manage, coach the assigned territory’s sales agent representatives and their teams.

  • Conduct territory specific visits to assist the sales team and drive demand for Leviton products (field visits should account for 60-70% of RSM work time)

  • Provide sales and technical coaching to the representative agent network to position the assigned Leviton Lighting brands to achieve sales goals and growth.

  • Manage the region's budget and assist in determining critical sales events and behaviors to achieve maximum profitability and sales.

  • Coordinate the use of internal Leviton resources to develop key business opportunities.

  • Ensure Leviton Lighting representation at industry trade shows and agent events to actively promote and maximize brand recognition.

  • Use Salesforce CRM to manage sales pipeline opportunities to close.

  • Positively promote the brand and overall Leviton Value Proposition via factory and Leviton Live Center visits with agents and all valued channel partners.

  • Provide market and subject matter expertise as VOC to the product and marketing teams within Leviton.

 

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, relationship-building, and relationship management skills.

  • Team player mentality is a must as is the ability to work in a rapid paced and changing environment.

  • Outstanding oral, written and verbal communication/presentation skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to understand the various channel influences and impacts.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required, specifically: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • High level of comfort in communicating with every level of an organization from top level executives to field personnel.

  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Financially competent with respect to managing the region's budget and analysis of region performance.

  • Demonstrated success as a sales professional with a history of growth within the specification lighting channel.

  • Familiarity with luminaire level lighting controls and understanding of the relevant path to market for such integrated product.

  • Ability to provide and communicate CEU programs to the industry.

  • The candidate for this role shall live in a larger populated market center within the territory and able to access the local market via vehicle and air travel regularly.

 

Education and Experience
  • BS or equivalent

  • 8+ years of experience selling specification lighting luminaires through agents.

  • Prior experience as a Regional/District Sales Manager preferred.

 

Travel
  • 50 - 60%
