Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose:
Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement.
This position serves as the technical liaison between European product development teams and North American manufacturing, adapting existing product designs for local production while ensuring compliance with North American standards, manufacturing capabilities, quality expectations, and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Produce detail drawings for use by manufacturing, Customer Service, Sales or Marketing
- Create designs for components as requested by the Engineering Manager
- Make samples of product designs as requested by the Engineering Manager
- Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes
- Interface to outside Lab testing (LTL) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
- Ability to manage projects, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and deliver engineering solutions on time and within scope
- Ensure ENG changes are reviewed, documented, approved, communicated and released
- Assist manufacturing in all aspects of Engineering
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, and Product Management to support production and customer requirements.
- Work with European engineering teams to resolve technical issues and implement approved product changes
- Create and maintain Item Codes, Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and engineering records within ERP and engineering systems
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Appropriate experience, skill and training in Industrial Drafting
- A knowledge of Pro-Engineer and AutoCAD necessary
- A sound understanding of UL requirements
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
- Strong background in electrical, mechanical, or lighting engineering with experience in product design and development for lighting or related industries

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- Five or more years of experience in function in a medium- or large-size company
