A premium United States architectural lighting manufacturer is seeking a Product Manager to drive new product strategy and new product introduction initiatives and provide essential ongoing maintenance to product portfolios. This role is ideal for a design-oriented, technically-minded, analytical, and highly organized individual who excels at generating results.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Build and Maintain New Product Roadmap

  • Conduct collaboration sessions with key company stakeholders, sales agents, and design professionals to create a product roadmap that guides the new product plan.

 

Create Product Line Scope Documents

  • Create product line scope documents that include product design, performance, cost, and price criteria to drive the new product engineering process.

 

New Product Program Management

  • The Product Manager will be a key project leader of each strategic new product program. This includes driving the new product program process from concept to product design and engineering, facilitating the hand-off to procurement and operations, and ultimately delivering technical content to the Marketing Communications team.

 

Marketing and Sales Launch Support

  • Assist marketing in the rollout of new product lines by providing technical content for product data sheets, installation instructions, price guides, and website technical information.
  • Work with engineering in the creation of photometric and BIM files for the website.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and new product development in the creation of sales sample kits.
  • Attend tradeshows and rep shows occasionally to demo new products and acquire feedback from agents and designers.

 

Product Training and Technical Support

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on new and existing products, providing technical support and training for sales, marketing, and customer service.
  • Additionally provide direct technical support to sales agents and designers and occasionally assist designers in the specification process as necessary.

 

Product Life Cycle Management

  • Monitor and maintain the health of the existing product portfolios updating and discontinuing as necessary.
  • Collaborate with sustaining engineering to identify trends and repeated non-standard requests.
  • Stay connected to product quality issues. Identify cost-saving projects and opportunities.

 

Product Reporting and Business Analytics

  • Create monthly product reports that illustrate sales input and profit margin trends to drive product-related business decisions on strategy, cost, and inventory management.

 

Qualifications:

Education: An undergraduate degree (BA or BS), preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or Lighting Design.

Experience: Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2–3 years of industry experience in professional design or product management.

Skills:

  • Strong technical aptitude and design acumen.
  • Strong technical software skills in engineering, architecture, and multimedia.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
